The UP Diliman campus actively engages in a multitude of initiatives aimed at advancing gender equality and empowerment. Through campus-wide campaigns, celebrations, and partnerships, we advocate for various forms of expression, including forums, films, educational programs, and interactive theater, all geared towards promoting women’s empowerment and fostering gender equality and justice.
The UPD Gender Office (UPDGO) serves as a catalyst for these endeavors, actively initiating, participating in, and collaborating on programs and projects (PAPs) that serve several key objectives:
(1) propagate conversations on gender;
(2) respond to timely community and national gender issues; and
(3) commemorate in solidarity with national and international celebrations such as One Billion Rising, International Women’s Day and Women’s Month, Pride, International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOT), and the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women.
Beyond the confines of UP Diliman, our commitment to gender mainstreaming extends into public service work. We actively disseminate our expertise and resources to communities beyond our campus borders, collaborating with universities, colleges, government offices, and various public and private institutions. By sharing our knowledge, skills, and Gender and Development (GAD) committee practices, we aim to foster gender sensitivity, responsiveness, and justice in both theory and practice across diverse sectors of society.
