GBV Protocol App

GBV Protocol is developed by the UPDGO to clearly establish standards of practice and guiding principles in handling any form of GBV. This is an operational manual that essentially standardizes coordination and service delivery. It also aims to sensitize the campus community to the existence of GBV in terms of security and protection.

The UPDGO Publications for 2022

The UP Diliman Gender Office launched new publications this year namely: Protocol for Gender-Based Violence Prevention and Response (GBV Protocol), Usapang Lalaki: Masculinities Study Training Module, Mulat: Book of Gender Abstracts, 6 Year UP Diliman GAD Agenda, and the FILIPIN/AS: Women in Philippine Society Module. Aside from these publications, the UPDGO also launched pamphlets about gender topics and issues: HIV-AIDS brochure, SOGIESC brochure, Safe Spaces Act: Isang Praymer, and the SOGIESC Situation in UP Diliman.

The “Protocol for Gender-Based Violence Prevention and Response (GBV Protocol)” is intended to be a resource for faculty, staff, and employees who are first responders to different gender-based violence cases in the university. This is written by our Guidance Service Specialist, Anna Myrishia Villanueva. Meanwhile, the “Usapang Lalaki: Masculinity Studies Training Module” written by Eric Cabrera, is for trainers who want to shed light on the topic masculinity studies in the Philippines as a patriarchal society and how it is connected to different issues like VAWC, sexual harassment, bullying, and all forms of discrimination. The “Mulat: Book of Gender Abstracts” is a collection of abstracts about gender-related studies and topics. This project is headed by Kristel May Gomez-Magdaraog. The “6 Year UP Diliman GAD Agenda” is written also by Kristel May Gomez-Magdaraog, Cindy Cruz-Cabrera, Gwyneth Meneses and members of the UP Diliman Committee: Joseph Liao, Aiza Palaya, Gian Louisse Roy, AC Nadora, Eric Lloyd Hilario, and Kathleen Estrella. The agenda was a result of a 2-year intensive research and collaboration of the office and the GAD Committees of the university. The “Filipin/as: Women in Philippine Society” module is also a collaboration between the UPDGO and faculty of the Department of Speech Communication and Theatre Arts which aims to help Senior High school teachers and educators in teaching about gender-issues and topics. Finally, the “SOGIESC Situation in UP Diliman” is a study on the current SOGIESC situation which was a result of a series of interviews with faculty, staff, and students within the university.

By launching these publications and other reading materials, the UP Diliman Gender Office hopes to raise awareness about gender issues and promote a more equitable and inclusive community. These publications are part of the office’s larger goal to create a more equal and gender-sensitive world.
